The ZSU snow depth sensor adopts the principle of non-contact acoustic ranging. The sensor emits an ultrasonic pulse, measures the time between the emission and return pulses, and then uses this measurement value to determine the snow depth. Air temperature measurement is required to correct for changes in sound velocity in the air.
The sensor integrates a temperature sensor, which corrects the ultrasonic speed by measuring temperature. Measurement data can be output in ASCII code through RS-485 serial port. ZSU is a snow depth measuring instrument that uses ultrasonic telemetry technology to achieve automated and continuous monitoring of artificial snow depth, which can replace similar products. It is sturdy and durable, dustproof, low-power consumption, easy to install, and maintenance free. It can continuously measure the depth of snow cover and the amount of snowfall during periods for a long time.

Is there a requirement for installation height?
In principle, the installation height should be lower than the measurement height. In order to achieve better measurement results, it is recommended to install at a height of about 2.5 meters.
What is the difference between the principles of ultrasonic measurement and laser measurement？
Within a certain area, the depth of snow accumulation is scattered and uneven. The laser principle uses a single point measurement, which cannot objectively reflect the actual snowfall situation on site. Ultrasound, on the other hand, is a regional detection, which uses the fixed circular area as the sampling area to output the average snow depth thickness in the current area, which can accurately reflect the snowfall situation on site.
